Case History - UCONN Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans (EBV)

The Challenge

UConn’s Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans (EBV) with Disabilities has helped 25 veterans open 27 businesses since 2010. The program, underwritten by private donations, has received ongoing support from companies like Brooks Brothers, Bank of America Foundation and others. EBV is focused on expanding its program to serve more veterans and in the process strengthen its relationship with donors and increase future fundraising efforts.

L2 Communications positioned the University’s program leaders including Mike Zacchea, a highly decorated and retired Marine Lieutenant Colonel. By showcasing the program’s successes and shining the light on the country’s heroes, we generated goodwill donations of sponsors who stepped forward.

Results

L2’s efforts generated widespread, national coverage from Associated Press’ front page feature to byline articles in business journals and features in daily newspapers across the state. EBV led local newscasts and radio talk shows. EBV is now leveraging these results as part of its fundraising and new marketing efforts.
